New album recorded

Wed Oct 21st 2026 Drummer/composer Michael Baird and a new quartet with top French musicians Vincent Courtois - cello, Philippe Deschepper - electric guitar, Tom Gareil - vibraphone, marimba. Space, density, silence, energy, individuality, collectivism. Morphing back and forth, front and fifth, in fact all over the place! Recorded in Studio La Buissonne by Gérard De Haro, on October 6th & 7th. The album, as yet without a name but with catalogue number SWP 075, will be released in February '27.....

New release Sept 18th - Phil Seamen Vol. 2

Wed May 13th 2026 Phil Seamen, was one of the great jazz drummers of the world. The most African of English drummers was born in 1926 in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, died in 1972 in London. Phil had an innate ability on the drums but alas, he was also a born raver – drug addiction increasingly dogged his career, it cut short his life. Amongst others Kenny Clarke, Louis Bellson, Joe Morello, Philly Joe Jones were all big fans, Sir James Blades called him a 'percussion genius', to Ginger Baker he was 'God'.

At the beginning of September last year, Michael Baird took some top improvisors into the brand new Le Roy Studio in Amsterdam, which has wonderful natural acoustics, and Mikel Le Roy expertly recorded the two sessions in two consecutive days. Recorded in the renowned La Buissonne studio by Gérard De Haro. "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking.
